I get extremely nervous on airplanes as well, especially in this post-9/11 world. Even with the new safety precautions and what not, I'm still freaking out. And now with AirFrance 447, it's not really helping.
Here's what you should do....
Either bring a thermos of chamomile tea, or take a Lorazepam pill. Chamomile tea will calm you, and will make you feel less on edge. Lorazepam, most commonly under the brand names Ativan and Temesta, is a pill that will loosen the knot in your stomach that you sometimes feel if you're aerophobic -- afraid of flying. It sounds as though you're aerophobic, so that's why I'm suggesting it.
Last time I flew, which was to Scotland on spring break, I stocked up on new songs, music videos, movies and television shows that I downloaded from iTunes and YouTube and LimeWire. I suggest stocking up on some of those things, perhaps -- in your case, preferably -- videos, as when you're watching videos, you sometimes lose a sense of time, which could make the time go by faster.
Good luck, and safe travels.
Just remember this, as well...you're more likely to die on the way to an airport than on an airplane. Airplanes are the safest ways of travelling.

Try taking a sleeping pill and you can sleep through the whole ride. Haha thats what I do sometimes. Or bring a book to read. I also bring my iPod and that works fine for me. Try not to be so nervous. The plane ride has to end eventually.
Hope that helps. Good luck with that plane ride

Ideas
-Sleep
-Flight might have like an interactive movie screen or something in any case, take any entertainment they have
-Read - bring a good book and you can spend like an hour reading
-If it is an ipod TOUCH, you can play games on it
-Listen to music for a while
-Daydream
____________
Things to keep in mind
-dont let 9/11 get to you, i doubt your plane will get hijacked
-a 3 hour flight isnt that long, its the 7 hour ones you got to worry about ;-)
~~~~~
Have fun!
P.S. Think of the destination you are about to arrive in (if its a good one)
______
Edit 1: Nothinghere, you might not be allowed to bring that stuff on a flight.
Edit 2: Perhaps you can not read any of these posts, and save them for when you are on the flight! lol, have someone right them down for you =)
Source(s): I am like a pre-teen world traveler, lol, by the time i was 11 i had been to 18 countries and had been on like nearly a hundred flights. Not to mention lived in 3 countries. - Little OneLv 41 decade ago
Read a book.
Buy a lot of magazines (the trashier, the better).
Bring a notebook and write down your thoughts.
Listen to music and actually listen - you might hear things you never knew were there before!
This is what I always do on plane rides of any time.
