6 - 8 glasses a day, doctor's advise. Glass should at least hold 255 - 300 ml of water.

They say 8 glasses that are 8 oz. each a day.
Honestly,i find that i drink a little more than that.
Each person is different and each person does their own level of activity.Whatever you need to drink to stay hydrated is important that you drink that amount.
Drinking plenty of water not only helps keep you hydrated,but it is also helps your skin. :]
I on a regular basis(pretty much daily.) drink about 5-6 bottles of water that are 16.9 oz each.

One half ounce per pound of body weight is the current recommendation-more if exercising strenously or working in the heat.

AS MUSH AS THE BODY CAN TAKE WATER IS THE BEST OPTION TO FLUSH OUT ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE BODY
