Why Are African American Men Less Attracted to Dark-Skinned Black Women?

I've seen enough B.E.T. to acknowledge the fact that African American men are well celebrated, yet only biracial black women are represented in the Afro-centric media. It's as if black women don't exist.

That is not true. The media creates these lies in order to try to direct black men to women with features that are closer to white and lighter skin tones.

Many black men in the media will accept this because:

    1. Light women are closer to white, and the society places white women on a pedestal. So in order to get ahead, most black people (or any other minority group) will agree to leave their race behind in order to get ahead. The black woman being abandoned is a symbol of this.

    2. White males are the top owners in the media. Even if a black person tries to get darker women in or show black people in a positive light, the white guy will vote against it because he fears that the black family united will end the stranglehold that they have on our communities.

And black men ARE NOT celebrated anywhere. The black men who SELL OUT their own race are celebrated. Example: I like Denzel Washington and his movies, but notice that he was given an award only when he portrayed the stereotypical black man in the movie "Training Day"...the kind of guy that the white media warns will corrupt you if you get close to him.

Also, black women who sell out their race are celebrated as well. Look at Halle Berry. That woman has NEVER done a movie (that I've seen) with a black male interest. She also got an award for "Monster's Ball" in which she had a powerful sex scene with the white guy who killed her husband in the electric chair.

Black guys aren't celebrated in the media. On every show with black males, his wife is treating him like a child. He is afraid of her. Also, he is stereotyped as a child-like adult who's always trying to do the wrong thing, trying to make the wrong decisions for his kids, is selfish, etc. while his black wife is shown as a person who he is afraid of, who will beat him up, who is a decent, stunningly attractive person who married down and he is lucky to have her.

But the black woman isn't celebrated either, because she is shown as boring, fat, tough, etc.

Neither black men or black women have an advantage in the media. They hate both of us.

As for me, I am not more attracted to light-skinned women. I love dark-skinned women. Their hair is unique, incredible and one of a kind. Their skin is exquisite. Their body is priceless because it cannot be copied by white women who have not ceased attempting to get it through surgeries & implants. I love the real black woman, the one that was part of our family. She can be from the islands, Africa, America, England, France, etc. It doesn't matter where she's from, the beauty lies in her soul, her skin, her hair, her nails, her eyes and her majestic beauty. Real black men love black women.

    It's preference for some.

Some are more attracted to light skinned black women, some are more attracted to dark skinned black women.

But not all african american men are less attracted to dark skinned black women

Men are just looking for attractive women most of the time. Light skin doesn't make a person have beautiful features.

I know a black guy who only dated Caucasian and Latino girls when he was in high school. Now, many years later, he's ready to marry a dark-skinned, classy black woman.

    Who knew?

Here is the thing with most black men

the only men that think that way are USUALLY the EXTREMELY dark skin men or dark black men. They as well as some dark black women, don't like being black, so therefore they go after any woman that isn't dark skinned. Same with dark women

they don't like their skin color, i call them self-haters

not ALL dark blacks are like that, my friend is dark and he likes dark chicks

I'm just saying if you do see black men like that, usually they are dark.

This has to do with the racist white society we live in, these foolish black men fall into the white=good annd black=bad, therefore looking down on themselves in the process.

It's true that dark-skinned women aren't very prevalent in music videos, but that doesn't speak for all Black men. I'm attracted to any woman who attracts me. Skin tone doesn't dictate that.

Yes, more than most people would probably know. And I see that you are Kenyan but do you have a medium, light or dark complexion (this plays a role in preference)? Also, what type of white guys do you like? Blond/Blue eyed? Red head? Italian? etc. And it also depends on your personality and his.

Chances are they are just less attracted to them which is ok since everyone has some sort of preference or they pay way too much attention to the media's idea of beauty which is light skin.
