What do you do if someone owes you money and constantly dodges paying up?

I keep hearing "Later this week.." but they never pay up. It's annoying cause I have covered for them in the past, usually they are good for it, but now I am in a tight spot and it's getting old. I know they are in a bit of a spot, too, but it's been a month. What should I do?

If you have any legal proof, and if the money is anything worth going to court over, (say, over $100), file in small claims.

Also, no more friendship, and definitely do not loan them anything ever again. If they ever ask, tell them you only loan to those who pay back promptly.

Tell them you aren't going to forget that you need the money. If they don't bring it soon, you won't be covering them anymore. If it's best for them, then they can pay half now and half later.

Your choices are limited to Small Claims Court or nagging.

Hopefully you have learned a lesson, and most likely a cheap one for this time, even if they never pay you back. Part of being an adult is learning to say "no".

Listen to the Italians. Breaking kneecaps without warning speaks much louder then nagging
