Can you live anywhere while getting social security disability example : live in New York move toNorth Carolin?

thks all for such a speedy response . Am i correct in understanding that you would not get a pay rate change due to the move?

    There would be no change in the payment rate UNLESS the type of disability payment is SSI (Supplemental Security Income). SSI is a public assistance program and payments are based on the individual's income and residence.

    Before considering a move, be sure to check with Social Security to make sure the type of benefit is Social Security and not SSI. If it is SSI, they will be able to tell you what the rates are in North Carolina.

    Yes you can my aunt lived in California and when got her disability and now she lives in Maine and she still has her disability.
