I first went when I was eight years old, at the Ryman. I remember Ernest Tubb being there, and Marty Robbins.
I was there in 1974 when Roy Acuff introduced Paul McCartney, who was in town visiting (and recording his country hit "Sally G.").
My most cherished memories: first, being able to take my late mom to the Opry. She had such a great time and I took her photo posing with Porter Wagoner, Billy Walker, and Vince Gill. Second was being in Roy Acuff's dressing room with Mr. Acuff in 1992, about five weeks before he passed away.

I reckon it must be 25 years since. Boxcar Willie,Jimmy C newman and Jean Shephard if I remember correctly. Great day on the fair as well.
I hear that it is mainly pop/country these days and the real country stars aren't present
