growing up in NYC, playing streetball...he used to skip with the basketball up the court as a show of basketball skills and confidence.
he preferred to make people look foolish with his dribbling skill.

In his time with the AND1 crew he played with them for a while when he played PG and took the ball down the court he would kinda skip while dribbling the ball so the crew gave him the name "Skip To My Lou" to note that he skipped.
