Betta living under the substrate?

My betta dug a entry way to slide under the under-gravel filter....

This morning I couldn't find him...I knocked on his lid and he slithered out from under it. He has plenty of foliage to hide in.

Whats that about?

Yes I have gravel...and kinda chunky for his size...He moved it

    hey diamond!!!... i've never heard of that before..... how could he get under there? dont you have gravel?
