    "Soothing and nostalgic music"? Much as I like Led Zeppelin and Dead Kennedys, I wouldn't call either soothing...

    It sounds like you might like to explore electronica/trip hop a little. Also referred to as "Chillout" and "Downtempo", it tends to be 'soothing', and many have some good lyrics.
