What brand and model filter to use in a 37 gallon fresh water aquarium?
My aquarium kit came with a Bio-Wheel 200 (by Marineland), but i was wondering what is the best filtration system for a 37 gallon fresh water aquarium? thanks!
ALSO, what types of plants would your recommend putting in this tank?

Marineland made very nice HOB and Canister Systems, there also Hagen AquaClear HOB filter systems and Fluval Canisters, there is some China copys Canisters in E-bays cheap and works well too.

Basely what is ur prices rang and maintenance.
Penguin 200B (I think what u have,about 200gph), circulations about 6x's an hour, Most fish tank water circlations about 5-12x's an hour.

Actually marineland are some of the best hang on back filters on the market. They are always rated near the top with aquaclear. You can see reviews on lots of sites including petsmart and petco. You may want to add another filter if you want real clean water.
The only plants ive kept are java fern and seem to do well. They can grow on almost anything and don't need a lot of light to thrive.

you usually just need 1 filter...my bro has a filter and i think that it is called Aquaclear, it is for tanks that are i think 50 - 65 or 70 gallons of water...anyways hope i helped!

i would go with a canister filter as they are better and they keep ur water cleaner. Here is a good one for you
