For the To Kill a Mockingbird, the mockingbird is like Tom Robinson and Boo Radley, they do nothing, but people always seem to make fun of them.

Mama's plant symobolizes Mama's dreams.
The mockinbird represents innocence. It is a sin to kill a Mockingbird because they have never done anything negative, only made pleasant music. So in the book, Tom Robinson is the innocent mockingbird because he did nothing wrong, but was killed. Atticus also tells Jem that he cannot shoot a Mockingbird due to their innocence.
Hope this helps! :)

Mama's plant represents her dream of a better future for her family, and the passion and love she has for her family, she wants everyone to have the best.
The Mockingbird represents Tom Robinson because "it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." And it's a sin to kill a mockingbird because Calpurnia says that they don't bother anybody, and they just sing their hearts out. Tom Robinson was wrongfully convicted of rape, despite signicant evidence proving him innocent (just because he was black), and in the end of the story he is shot and killed when trying to escape from jail.

I've never heard of A Raisin In the Sun, but the mockingbird in TKAM symbolizes innocence, (representing Boo Radley and Tom Robinson), and to kill a mockingbird would be to destroy innocence. This relates to Tom Robinson because he is an innocent man, yet he is still indicted and killed by the residents of Maycomb. It relates to Boo Radley because he is also innocent, but the residents of Maycomb blame him for everything and make fun of him for no reason. It also relates to Scout's innocence, as she loses her innocence as the book progresses and she is exposed to racism and bigotry so early in her life.
