Why do I have to use sunscreen my mom forces me to use it?

I'm 14 and finished grade 8. Friday was the second last day of school and it was the year end fieldtrip for our class so we went to the waterslides for the whole day we got a form like a week before we went. i had to wake up real early on friday morning at 6;30 cuz the bus leaves early i was real tired and my mom told me to come into her room and there was this huge new bottle of sunscreen on her dresser and she told me to take off my shirt so i did then she got the sunscreen and put it on my face then i had to stick out each arm for her to lather then all the way down to my feet and it took at leest 5 minutes and she put on way to much u can see it on my arms and legs still. i told i could do it myself but shes just like thats my job i could easily do it myself but she said shes gona do it for me until im SIXTEEN. i dont have any siblings my mom is a long distance runner and beauty consultant person so also and she always puts cream on her face before she goes to bed then calls me in to her room and she puts it on my face too and it gets annoying cuz thats for girls only.

its so emberasing on the bus everyone else in my class had sunscreen on to but they all put it on themselves or said they do themselves and im the only 1 who my mom does it for me but i also said i do it myself...Y is my mom the only one like this when everyone else in my class does it themself and i have to wait untl im 16? i want to know from parents that im too old for her doing that to me?

my mom says ther is skin cancer in our family her sister died of it but i can stil do it myself...im the only 1 its not fair

and no every1 in my class already had it on no1 put it on when we got to the watersliders everyone smelld like sunscreen and every1 looked shiny when we all met at the class to go on the bus. no other mom dose this!

Update:

i told her be4..

Your mother is always going to be your mother, she will not stop caring for you even when you turn 16.

I get my sunscreen put on me all the time, and I'm 20. I got sun poisoning once about 5 years ago, and it was one of the most painful things I've ever gone through. I had nasty huge blisters on my shoulders because I was stupid.

Of course you can do it yourself, but why is it a bad thing that your mother cares for you more than your peers mothers care? And are you capable of doing your own back?

For starters, your young, and your mother just wants to look out for you, its not that bad.

Secondly, is anyone really going to notice that your mum puts it on for you....it only took 5 mins of your life.

Thirdly... how do you know anyone else didnt have their parents put it on, they may be fibbing about it just like you are.

No offence, but thats a bit of a petty thing to be bothered over. Your mum just cares.

Think about it, when your older, all those other kids are gonna die of skin cancer and get melanomas and stuff. You'll be fine xD

It is pretty obvious she is concerned! She thinks you might not use it and forget to put it on and not get every spot. She just wants safety.

Please listen to her! She knows what she is doing! She is an adult, do you think skin cancer is pretty? It's really annoying these days with some teens...

because if you don't use sunscreen, your skin will age terribly and you might get skin cancer, blisters etc etc.... (that's why tan beds are bad for you too)

they always say it in those beauty magazines like Seventeen and stuff....

for example. the outer side of your arm is always rougher than the inner side because the inner side gets less sun exposure...

  • At least tell HER that you can do it yourself. She cares a lot about you because she doesn't want you to have skin cancer. Knowing that her sister died of Skin cancer, which makes her more curious and protective of you. You need to talk to her , explain to her how you feel, that you can do it yourself, but at least let her watch you until she realises you can actually do it ....

Source(s): EDIT: you can get sunburnt so it's better to use sunscreen. EDIT again: I'm 15 and my parents don't let me go anywhere because they think I'm too young to go out to shopping, even around the corner. So top that ... I'm not even allowed to go to friends' houses. I can't change it but accept it. So I think you should accept it......At least tell her it's too much sunscreen on ...

    TL;DR

But anyway, sunburn hurts like a *****. And y'know, she might not want you to get skin cancer.
