Learn a language in 10 days?

How can they put these adverts? Do people really believe it can be possible? Have they got a good sense of humour? :)

Have you ever tried to learn a language in 10 days? I bet it can be quite a difficult thing to try.

"Spiritually speaking"? Are you learning a ghost language? The answer depends on what you are truly asking. Can you LEARN a language in 10 days? Yes. Its been proven in multiple tests. Will you be FLUENT in every possible permutation of a language in 10 days? No. In 10 days, you could however have a rudimentary grasp of a language allowing you to converse on a very basic level.... "Hello" or "Excuse me" or "Can you help me find ___?" or "I need ___" and so forth. You would not, of course, be able to write a dissertation in your chosen language, but, you would be able to converse in an elementary way and be understood. People do it all the time when they move to an English speaking country from somewhere else. Learn (definition) 1. Gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in (something) by study, experience, or being taught. 2. Commit to memory

The British actor, comedian, and broadcaster Stephen Fry learned Spanish in a startlingly short space of time when he made his BBC TV wildlife documentary "Last Chance to See".

His co-presenter said Stephen bought a book on Spanish grammar and vocabulary, and learnt it all in a matter of days; but I don't recall how many days. It was surprisingly fast though.

But then, Stephen does have an Honours Degree in English Literature from Cambridge University, so he is an exceptionally bright man.

I saw a documentary where some savant guy learnt icelandic in a week. He could also recite PI to 22,000 decimal places. (Well, calculate on the fly).

Other than that, it's pretty much impossible. I've been learning 2 other languages for about 6 years now, and still a long way to go with both.

No one can learn a language in 10 days.Give it 10 years of daily study, exposure and usage. Then you maybe pretty good at it.In 10 days you would do very well if you did learn 50 words and a few greetings.

I think it's impossible to learn any language in 10 days. You may just learn some basic rules and common words.

No way, my dear friend. To lear a language take time, to mastering a language take more. For exmple now I am learnign Catalá and Italian I know words, phrases but that does not mean that I know how to speak because now I am a learner. I do not know hard to believe in ten day you could say sentences, phrases, and words. Take care and have a great evening

Those peoples idea of "learning a language" is being able to say "Hi, my name is _________ and I live in ________ and speak __________" in ten days. It's a sales technique that plays to the ignorant people of society. I hope nobody thinks they'll actually be fluent after 10 days. A language takes years to learn a a lifetime to perfect.

    Hope it helps.
