You will need an administrators account. Then if you right click on start and select explore all users you can see recent items, history and all documents for each user.

If each User Account is an Admin User Account, as opposed to a Limited User Account, and you're using Windows XP or Vista, AND everyone uses Log-in Passwords, your teens control the PC, not you or your husband.

If their smart, and we assume they are, they will never leave any incriminating info in the Web Browser History, or in Favorites, period.

    But, you can regain control.

Change the teen's User Accounts to Limited, now. And, password protect every User Account. And, set up a Guest Account for non-family users. That way they can't change or install anything on your PC without parental knowledge and permission.

If you're really concerned what your teens are doing on the computer, move it to a room that you can watch what they are doing, like the dining room or rec room.

TIP: This is not a Trust issue, it's a Safety and Security issue. And yes, your teens won't like it, but you will. When they can buy their own PC, they can do as they choose. Never let them know your Admin Password, ever.

I'm assuming you use Windows. A pity, but nonetheless...

The way Windows security is set up, the only way you can look at browsing history for another account is to be logged in as that account. Tryst me, it's even difficult to see others footprints as the administrator on the same machine. This is not a bug; it's a feature. And, in fact, it's one I kind of agree with, as I'm big on privacy. This is also different from Unix-like systems, which allow root to do and see pretty much everything.

The only way to do this easily would be for you to install some kind of parental tracking software like Net Nanny. You could also invoke your authority as a parent and make them give you their passwords (or set it yourself and give it to them). You can also, as administrator, set up the system so that users cannot change their passwords. This way, you can log in as them when you like and poke around.

My guess is that of they know you can do this, they'll think twice about where they go.

One more thing: never, ever reveal your password or the administrator account password to them. In fact, I would suggest that you give YOUR account full administrative privileges, then always use that to do everything. Using the administrator account for anything other than necessary maintenance is a bad idea. Make the passwords difficult.

By the way, I don't have an issue with watching where the kids go, but are you looking at your husband's stuff without his knowledge? Not a good idea. I'm no marriage counselor, but if you have an issue with him, you need to open up with him about it. And you need to share the job of monitoring the kids with him. If he's doing something he shouldn't, you have a bigger problem.

Ask them to see it. I don't know why you'd feel the need to spy on your husband or children. Depending on the operating system you use, theres various methods to look into their folders and histories, but I will not explain them.
