2003 Saab 9-3 Problem turning key with no start.?
I have a convertible Saab 9-3 (2003) with 50,000 miles on it. This is the second time this has happened. Both times I have tried to turn the car on- i will turn the key and everything in the car will come on- and the engine check says ok- but the car will not start. No engine noise or anything. I fiddle around the with steering wheel and shifter and still nothing happens. Both times ive walked away frustrated and come back, tried again and it will start fine and drive like normal..
Any suggestions? I only have a few days left on my warranty from the dealer!

omg mine has done the exact same thing more than twice...wayy more than twice...and it suxx! i have the exact same make and model with 60000 on it and a lengthy drama with the dealership boiled down to a battery issue and replacement of the whole battery power lines thruout the engine...it did solve the problem after four trips cause dealership always got it started of course! i still keep a portable jumper boxx ready to go in my trunk when I couldnt wait any longer to start it...this never fails. get in there and get loud because this issue did cause total loss of enggine opower during driving at high speeds so its not going to get better and they know that there is an issue with a certain switch that works with the battery altho most wont tell u. i think it was the ignitrion switch?? good luck! I love my Saab aside from these littlle unexplained occurences!!

I just bout an 03 saab 9-3 a few days ago too!!! My lights dont work either. the "parking lights" pg 72 of the manual ..symbol shows on the dashboard and my lights are on but when i turn the handle thing on the left it doesnt do anything! At night time the yellow part on the outside of the light doenst go on and i cant get it to turn on at all!! I can turn my brights on and off but the lights are a no go! The dealar ship said that there wasnt an issue but they were going to check them again. Buying a used car off a car lot u should get a 30 day or 1000 mile warrenty on ur car.

Check the key opening and make sure you didn't get any coke or dirt in it. Because it is horizontal and on the console they sometimes get dirty and sticky. I had one that was sticky and the radio wouldn't turn off after removing the key. Try oiling it and working the tumbler with the key to free it. Worked for me.

Could be an electrical problem...once you have them, they are really hard to find and fix, however. And they never seem to fuss up when you need them to (ie: when you take them to the dealer to get worked on, etc.) but good luck with that!
