Blonde hair dye, extreme brassiness?

I've been dying my hair a very light blonde since 10 years.

Yesterday I tried out a new brand, just on my roots. Now my roots look extremely brassy, almost a very light orange.

I'm thinking of going back to my old brand, also a very light blonde, but in an ash tone, and dying my roots over.

So basically I wanna know if I could dye my hair over, in basically the same color, but in ash. Might that fix the problem?

P.S. I know about the blue tone shampoos and so on, but would rather dye it again, if that might help also.

Yes, re dying it would help. When using lighteners, it goes through a spectrum of colours... from brown to amber to orange to light orange to brassy blonde to warm blonde to white blonde. Dying it again would certainly lighten it and probably get rid of all the brassiness, but you are risking drying or damaging your hair. If you do choose to re dye it, wait a few days (if you can, hats come in handy here), so your hair will stregnthen up. Use lots of conditioners. Going to a professional salon would fix the problem but I realize thats not an option for everyone. Good luck!

I was born a natural blonde and then when i turned 16, my hair started to come in darker, i was very upset so i kept dying it blonde. Well i have always used nice n easy hair dye because it always gives me the great color i want (with the natural three toned color look) and the conditioner they put in the box with it is honestly better than any conditioner i have ever bought!!

One time though, i needed my hair dyed, and fast because i totally forgot to pick up some dye when i was in the city on my way home form college ( i live in a small town) and i had a wedding the next day i was photographing. I went to our small town gas station and found one that looked descent and had my mom dye my hair and when i took it out my hair almost looked orange/yellow. I started crying..i wanted it more white than yellow anyways and to add the orange in it just ruined my hair color. Needless to say i made a trip over to the city to get my nice n easy hair dye and had my mom REdye my hair and after using the conditioner, my hair was amazing...no dead ends, i mean it looked great!! So, i would say it depends on the brand you use to cover it up...I highly suggest nice n easy and it should help with not only the texture of your hair (meaning: not dead) but it will also look great in color...when it comes to hair, i always splurge on dye!! :)

Its only like $7 i think..not too bad as to compared if you pay someone at a salon...like $60 or more..

    Good Luck!!

seing that you are pregnant you should not be coloring your hair what so ever and if you are it is better to use color not bleach.

keep in mind that when you are pregnant your hormones totally change.

i found out i was pregnant 2 years ago due to coloring my hair that was supposed to be a med brown and I know it was done right and not on longer than it should have been and it turned jet black that gave me thehint i may be pregnant since i have never had problems coloring my hiar

then again in the past i was pregnant i tried to do hilights with my first pregnancy 6 years ago went to tone it and it turned a blue green tint

Source(s): licensed hairstylist ps if you continue to do box color you will fry your hair and it will be very dry and nasty. if you put a ash all over it will possibly fix your root problem if the pregnancy doesnt cause problems but the rest of your hair will be very very ashy and the roots not. you would really need to go to a professional so they can do a corective color. they will do the roots with one formula and the rest with another to make it match. please dont attempt to do a corrective color on your own. if you overlap the color where you shouldnt it will turn out horrible.
