What transmission fluid replaced type A ?
I have a 59 Dodge with the torqueflite transmission. Back in 59 it used type A fluid, that dosent exist anymore. Anyone know what the replacement trans fluid would be?

I did a little research for you and real type A was made with whale oil. two companies still sell it(not sure it's real), Coastal and Warren oil companies. Did a little more checking and Valvoline type FA will meet the standard.

Type A was really just fazed out . You can use dexron if needed . If rebuilding the trany and want a more sold shift get a performance fluid such as B & M

Ok what about an old Bolens tractor with hydrostatic drive from 1976, it took Type "A" will it work the same for that ?
