Crochet gift idea help!?

I have just learned to crochet in the last few months. I'm starting to think about what I can make people for Christmas. I was thinking little purses and scarves mostly. But I have one friend who I've never seen carry a purse (just her wallet) and I've never seen her wear a scarf or a hat.

What are some other beginner level things I could crochet for her? I'd like to keep it under $10-$15. And nothing huge like an afghan, something similar in size to purses and hats and scarves that I will be giving my other friends.

How about a small bag, made out of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton? 1 large skein costs $8.99 or less!

    Try these:

But you will need to register to see them...

I always make bookmarks and snowflakes out of #10 cotton thread. Everyone loves them. And they are quick to make up. The thread come in a huge ball for just a few dollars and take you a long way. And their are tons of free patterns for these if you google "free crochet bookmark" or "free crochet snowflakes" Good luck.

make her a wallet holder. You know that covers the outside of it. That way it sort of looks like a purse with no straps.
