How can I motivate myself to do housework?

Not this Summer but next Summer I'm finished school and I will be moving out, and I know I won't have someone else to help me keep the place tidy.

At home I usually only have to clean my room, and usually I just get to hang out with friends and watch TV and stuff. When I'm asked to help clean up I avoid it or goof off or do a patch up job on it.

Does anyone have any good tips to motivate yourself to do housework?? Thanks xx

what motivates me is when guest say they're coming to visit. I'm ashamed of my unclean house so I get to cleaning. Since this prompts me, sometimes I pretend someone is coming and start cleaning up. Knowing that I created the fantasy, I still get a little disappointed that no one showed, even unexpectadly. So the benefit, a clean house that doesn't stress me anymore.

end results - I still end up getting it dirty again. >>sigh<<

Thats normal, avoiding to do housework (it's not exactly fun).

Why don't you treat yourself for doing more around your house. Say that you clean the kitchen, well your mom is going to be happy, you will be accomplished, and afterwards you can figure out a point system to reward yourself for doing well (maybe after 5 clean-ups go out and get your hair done).

You'll get motivated on your own, once you've been living in your own mess for a while. Unless you're alright with living in filth I'm sure you'll clean eventually.

If it helps, just think of it as getting a bigger room. You're already used to cleaning your own room apparently, so instead of thinking, "I'm getting an entire place to myself, how am I going to clean all of this?" think something like, "I'm getting an upgrade on my room. It'll be a little bit bigger and might take a little longer to clean, but it's nothing I haven't done before."

What are the suggestions that are dealing with your head once you're ironing? Is there any way you may carry them over to different initiatives? i'd say, do not attempt to artwork on an identical job as he does on the 2nd. you may desire to be in fee of what you're doing, or esle it particularly is much less confusing to purely sit down decrease back. I hate cleansing too. yet i admire laundry. i admire the scent of the detergent, i admire the splashing water, and the sparkling clothing. So whilst i'd desire to do dishes I think of how I placed them in extreme-high quality piles. I additionally use greater cleansing soap to cover the scent of moist leftovers which I hate. i'm additionally telling myself that being prepared and sparkling complements the common of my existence. particularly, i'm motivating myself via imagining the outcomes.

ummmm if you invite people over or even family and children and your place is dirty thats pretty embarrassing on its own...

living in a dirty space is another con....

and any bugs or anything else (sugar ants from food left out; spiders and cobwebs from not vacumming and dusting)...if you don't want to clean up after yourself be prepared for nastiness and bugs and pests to be your new roommates

so if none of these reasons would motivate you on your own then you have a problem lol cuz thats nasty.

Its one of those things I find you just kinda have to do it. Once you start doing it everyday it becomes habit and doesnt seem to be such a chore. If you are living alone, if you just tidy up behind yourself everytime you get something out it's really not that bad.

Imagine your mother, your mother-in-law, and your worst enemy (who is the most talkative, mean-spirited, and evil gossip in your town) coming over to visit you in about three hours........
