I had made an arrangement with a collection agency they lied!!!!?

I had made an arrangement to pay $50.00 a month on a hospital bill, the bill was about $5,000 I have been making payments for 2 1/2 years, suddenly last week they sent my check back and when I called to see why, an *****le told me that it was not enough, that he wanted $100.00 a month, and that he did not have to accept any payments at all, so he scared me, so I am going to send what they want. I felt personally attacked I had never been late on my payments so how can they do this? do I have any rights I do have a job now but I am paying other commitments as well. Can anyone help me, with some good information Please.

Unfortunately they are under no obligation to accept payments. However they DO work off of commissions, so you are actually in control right now.

Call him back and tell him what you can AFFORD to pay, if he does not accept the payment amount, then you can tell him to call you when he changes his mind.

Always pay by money order, get all agreements in writing and never let them do a bank draft.

this is NOT legal advice, i am not a lawyer...

collection people are the scum of the earth...they will lie to get some money out of you....

since your credit is most likely shot since you had a bill in collection...i would stop paying it...let them rant and rave all they want...just ignore them...(save up all the money you would have sent them and keep it in a separate account)...in six months to a year offer them what you have...if they will not accept it then ignore them of a couple more months...make them another offer....you should be able to settle for about 50% of the bill.....

NEVER GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOU ACCOUNTS.....GET A LETTER STATING THE THE BILL IS PAID OFF AFTER THEY GET A CHECK/MONEY ORDER FROM YOU...INSIST ON IT OR THEY DO NOT GET ANY MONEY...

    good luck

The account is in collections and the damage is done to your credit already. I will not make any further payments to them unless you get something in writing and an agreement to delete it from your account once you pay up. "it's called pay fpr delete"
