About to buy a new pc tower. Is it possible to move programmes........?
...... on my old pc to my new one. eg.microsoft publisher, powerpoint, adobe photoshop cs etc. etc.
*edit*
Ok! I get the point. I wasn't very hopeful, just thought that someone may have come up with something. Not particularly bothered about renewing such as 'publisher' etc.,it's photoshop I am concerned about (disc damaged)

You cannot do a direct copy. But if you have the program discs, you can uninstall it from the old machine and reinstall it on the new machine no problem.

Do a google search on ' PC Mover' made by LapLink
Not too expensive and comes with a special USB Cable. Load it on the old computer and then the new one.
I use it all the time. Be careful and don't try to move 32 bit applications or files to a 64 Bit or vice versa without reading directions.

When you move you computer into the new case you dont need to format you harddrive. Just move your harddrive into the with case all your programs and files and your operating system intact.
(Best to do a backup though just incase).
You can move your old CD/DVD drives as well graphics card etc... The only thing which would have changed is your case.
You would have to buy a new operating system if your changed your motherboard though. Then you would need to put all your files back on.
sorry if I misread the question
If you bought a new computer (not just the case) You would have to put all your programs onto your new one again with the original disks and activation codes. Moving the hard drive wouldn't work as the operating system wouldn't work with the new motherboard. So you would have to format it and stick it in if you wanted to use it for extra storage. You would have to move all your files over to your new pc.
If you wanted to though I dont think there is any reason you couldn't use your old CD/DVD drives, fans, memory (if it's the same type), graphics cards and sound cards in your new computer.

If you have the installation discs and activation codes, then yes, you can re-install them on your new computer.
You may have to call a phone number to activate them since they were already installed on another computer. Be sure to uninstall or delete the programs from your old computer so you continue to get support/updates for them.
