Yes, you can install xp with a working xp disk, with either service pack 2 or 3. You must change the hard drive mode to IDE first in the bios, then install away.

Here is a sight for all of the install drivers:

    Dell Studio 1537 Drivers

    Hey,

Dell Studio Laptop 1537 only supports Windows Vista and not Windows XP which means that you can only work with windows vista on it. Dell itself doesn't provide the drivers for Windows XP for Dell Studio Laptop 1537 but only for Vista 32 bit and 64 bit.Though you may have been able to install Windows XP on it,but Dell doesn't have drivers for XP on its website. Either you can revert back to Vista or try to find the drivers for all the individual components on the laptop which is never that easy and also not possible because few of the components are manufactured by DELL itself.

I have attached a link for you so that if you have any more queries that link would answer all of it.

you may load XP by using putting the SATA decision in BIOS to IDE previous to setting up, then you definately can boot from the CD. XP sees the no longer easycontinual as an IDE no longer easycontinual and does no longer choose the SATA drivers. The link under provides step by using step classes on the thank you to load XP on a Dell Studio 1537. He has each and every of the drivers and each thing you pick. I even have by no ability considered greater beneficial classes. circulate to his web site and choose the 32bit setting up (except you're using a 64bit cd, which isn't likely considering which you're saying the cd is previous) and shop on with the classes.
