can you recommend a good book?

I am looking for a good, old-fashioned who-done-it full of all the cliches like "a dark and stormy night", "the butler did it", etc.

Have you read Agatha Christie's books? Very well written who dunnits, which are hard to guess. My favourites are Murder in Mesopotamia, Dead Man's Folly and Evil Under the Sun.

Otherwise, M.C. Beaton writes two good series that might fit the bill - Hamish Macbeth (set in the Scottish Highlands) and Agatha Raisin (set in the English Cotswolds). They're both very entertaining.
