How do i get my dogs to cooperate on a leash? PLEASE HELP!?
My two dogs are exactly the same age, they about 5 and a half months old. But anyways we have had them for a couple months now and we never walked them but now i want to and when i try to walk my little malti-poo he never cooperates!!
he plays tug-a-war almost with his leash like he bites it and will just sit down and chew on it i don't know how to make him stop. but even if i take it away and scold him he continues to bite it also he jumps upp on me like to play (hes small so this is not the biggest problem because i know that its easier to solve).
but anyone that has any tips please help?
THANKS:)

lol.... You just answered my question and you said to answer yours so I will....
But keep in mind I am not the best dog expert! Luckily this is about the ONLY question I could answer about pups. My puppy used to hate going out for walks, too! But now what I do is I usually take him down with a friend, or my brother, or anyone and someone can be holding the leash and the other person can be running in front, that way the dog would want to follow and walk and he would be happy to do it. Every now and then he would go slowly and start sniffing the grass (this means he has to go pee or poo) xD stop for a second and let him do his business. Then continue!
And as for the tug o war. If you distract him by letting him sniff you and running away like I said above, he would probably stop. Its what my little puppy does....
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

My lab used to do that too, until I learned that to him it was just a game.
So when he started biting the leash I would walk to him (bring the leash closer to the dog) so the act of pulling isn't happening. If you walk quickly towards the dog, he'll probably instinctively go into a sit position. Mine did - then I used the off command.
You need to be sure that you are not pulling and that the dog isn't pulling. Stay in the sit position until dogs calms down then start the walk again.

When we went to Obedience Class our Trainer Said: "If your dog trys to chew on the Leash while walking put some Hot Sauce on the leash and say a firm NO."
When a Dog pulls on a leash, You give a tug on the leash and say "Heel" or "No" so the dog knows he's not supposed to be doing that.

To keep him from chewing on the lead spray some bitter spray o n it. DO NOT get it on your hands because you could accidently tasted it later on. Now some bitter sprays your dog will like so return it to the store and switch to another until you found the best one. They evaporate in about 24 hours so you have to spray it daily until they relies it does not taste good.
At the beginning walk them by them self until the can behave that way don’t put them together. Get a 4 foot lead, not a retractable one. When you start walking make sure there is not too much lead for them to try to switch side on you. Rap the lead around you hand to make it smaller. If you dog pulls back and want to sniff at something call him to make him come back to you. If you dog runs a head and tries to pull you forward stop moving. Wait till you dog come back to you a little. It is time consuming at first but you dog will relies that by pulling he will get no where.
Don’t let your dog jump on you. If you down does turn around and ignore him. Only let them on your lap if you call them there.
Good Luck

Try giving him a treat so he will have something else to chew on then get him outside and walking and maybe he will get distracted then keep doing this until he stops and reward him.

It's like all other commands that you teach your dog - you train them to do what you want. Teach him to "leave it" (you can look online for how to go about training). Once he understands the command you can tell him to leave the leash & he will. Dogs need direction from you and you need to learn how to help them understand what it is you want. Good luck.
