How do I eliminate employees from surfing the internet?
Our county uses internet based programs or needs the internet to run these programs. Our problem is that employees working in the jail are downloading music among other things at night. How do I keep this from happening? We use K-9 but the employees have found a way around that program. Thanks in advance for your help!
enough with the lame answers. I am looking for a professional opinion among computer peers.

use a free key logger to monitor their web usage. It works great. You can monitor everything and there will be no question of "What are they doing on their computers" again. Every key that is pressed will show and if the delete something it will correct for that. Web sites will be listed in a easy and covenant format, even if they delete their history in their browser.
I do suggest you send a memo to your employees so they know they are being monitored. You as a employer do have the legal right to do this.
Go to
click on key logger and download the free trial.
after install make sure to make it invisible to users and set up a password.
The only problem I see is you have to go to every computer to check there usage. When you buy the actual product you can set it up to send you weekly e-mails on their computer usage.
Good Luck

Do you have a policy regarding the down loading? How about sending a stiff memo to all employees regarding the matter. Let them know that there are ways of finding out what is put on the computer. How about when the employee logs in they click on a button that states they will only use it for business reasons.

you should be taking a wreck of 10 minutes out of your workstation each hour. go and get a drink, stretch your legs or only turn faraway from the workstation as many times as plausible. I ought to assert that many times i'm getting a "wooly" head after an afternoon at artwork, my kneck aches and that i actual HATE the aircon and rancid air in my place of work. every time i'm off for an afternoon or 2, i'm nonetheless lively at 11 oclock at nighttime - no headache, no aches and pains. workplaces are actually not a healthful place to spend your days yet needs ought to. be sure you drink a lot of water. The lighting fixtures fixtures make me experience quite undesirable - type of spacy on occasion.

Delete the programs off all the computers and put a lock on them, also while you are setting the locks on the computers make it so you get a notice each time they try to re download it and if you see a notice then go on that computer tye a message saying "this program cannot be run because of an overuse of it in the past please consult a professional" that should scare them, good luck!

There is software that can monitor every website and every key that is typed on your employees computers. Large corporations use these to make sure that the employees are not wasting company time by goofing off on the net or visiting sites they shouldn't.

Well, if they are guys, put pictures of naked men on the background. When they go on, the will freak out. Also put your homepage as a naked men site.
