How do I convert vob, bup and ifo files into a simgle avi or mpg file?

Question

I was given a folder with 6 vob files, 2 bup, and 2 ifo files. I can't open any of the files with Windows media player. 

What I want to do is to make a single avi or mpg file that I could store on a DVD-R, or burn onto a disc with the Sonic DVD-burner software I have --hopefully with the right subtitles. 

But I have tried different ways, and still can't figure it out.

Also, there are three big vob files (exactly the same file size), and three smaller vob files. Why so many files for one movie? Do I need to use some software to connect all the vob files into one big file?

There is any easy way, i have used RZ Video Converter to do this, run RZ Video Converter, drag all source .vob files into RZ Video Converter as source, then check all vob files, click merge button, and select a target profile(such as avi or mpg), then click Start button, you can get one full avi or mpeg video.

These are files in a DVD folder, you can use dvd ripping software to convert it to a single video file.

import the folder, 
choose avi or mpg as output format, 
start conversion.

You may try this video converter, I know it can join and convert multiple vob video into one avi video. After you load your files into the software, you will see an option named "merge into one file", click it and start the conversion, then you will get one video file. Here is the download link

The folder is what we called dvd folders, you can use wondershare to convert the dvd folders to a seperated video file in avi, mp4, mpeg, wmv, etc.
