Fibromyalgia, Multiple sclerosis or an ear disorder?

Hi all,

I'm hoping somebody will answer me because I’m totally desperate for answers. Ok it started a while ago, like 3 months or more; I started to have anxiety attacks and then it turned into derealisation (the feeling of being detached from reality) I am now taking pristiq for my anxiety and that has seemed to go away but the feeling of derealisation is still there but not quite as bad. What I am really writing this for is about the same time 3 months I have been feeling unsteady/unstable/off balance and an unsteady gait while walking and I tend to sway when i stand still. I have had CT scans, MRI's, blood works and they're all appearing normal. I have had widespread pain, aches all over, tingling, twitching, wooziness, numbness, slight weakness, and constant balance problems. Do you think this could be fibromyalgia? I have looked up all the inner ear balance disorders and I don't match up to any about from having poor balance. I have looked up fibromyalgia and have a lot of the symptoms (most of them) but I don't have the stiffness in the morning. Please help! What is causing my balance problems (Not dizziness) Please do not get these mixed up<. Do I have MS, Fibromyalgia inner ear disorder...???? Please help! What do you think it is?

Update:

Thanks for all your answers, Im not sure if i get stiff in the morning...this may sound dumb but i'm not sure what feeling stiff would feel like? i do wake sometimes feeling sore like i have had a workout the night before but havent. define feeling stiff please?

Doesnt sound like m.s. at all...but you never know. If it's not in the MRI...I guess do a Lumpar Puncture...but it doesnt sound like m.s. so I dont think a doctor would order it because you think it's m.s.

However, I had experienced that derealisation...but not because m.s., but because a huge depression after being diagnosed with m.s.

M.S. is not psychological, m.s. is neurological.

  • I know that everyone here is trying to give the answer, but i think u need to get to the doctor to get checked out some more. For all the things that are going on it sounds more like MS only because I went through this too and they found out that I had MS a few moths back and not I take shots three times a week. Good luck and hope you feel better soon

    Source(s): I have MS

While it is true that fibromyalgia could match many of your symptoms, so could MS and some other things, too. You would need to have a doctor diagnose what your problem is. If your doctor can't figure out what is wrong, ask to be refered to a specialist, most likely a neurologist.

Please see an ear nose and throat doctor. The balance problem and the symptom of being detached from your body could both be related to a middle ear disorder.

I have meniere's disease and fibromyalgia so am familiar with both problems.

If you aren't stiff in the morning you probably don't have fibromyalgia.
