I answered a question 7 months ago and its only just been picked as best answer?

Well if yours was the only answer why didn't you just vote for it before and get it resolved? It took 7 months because nobody, including you, voted until now. Actually 7 months is nothing, there are far older unresolved questions on the back pages of the voting section.

Most people don't seem to have a problem with voting for themselves, regardless of whether their answer was any good. I suggest you go through the questions you have answered and see if any others are in voting and then Vote! You can either just vote for yourself regardless, or you can show some integrity and vote for the answer that is actually the best.

Whenever I have submitted a question I always choose the best answer, but unfortunately there are a lot of askers do not and let it go to public vote. I personally like voting on undecided questions but not everyone does.

I saw an answer from someone who suggested that if you liked voting then to join Yahoo Tiebreakers, these are a group of users on Answers who use their votes to clear the backlog of questions, so I did. Your question has obviously been one of those that they are clearing out.

Because maybe that question was "In Voting" and nobody voted for it til seven months later? Or it was a tie and someone just voted for you to make you win it? The "In Voting" questions can only be voted for until after you cannot answer the question anymore, and that depends on what the asker decided, usually four days, or a week, or more...but if they decide before the question expires, they could choose a best answer in the first two minutes if they wanted.

There are a lot of questions older than that have never been resolved. The asker did not vote for best answer so it went into voting and no one voted for a best answer until now or it was in tiebreaker mode where someone voted "No Best Answer" and you got a vote for your answer then it was there until someone finally voted for your answer and the tie was broke.
