A Few Questions About A Song?

Mykonos by The Fleet Foxes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TbmLkwMHwo

First off I think it's beautiful, and brilliant, but I do have a few questions.

1 Do You like the song?

2 Does the song remind anyone else of some 70's bands like America, or Fleetwood Mac?

3 Can anyone tell me what genre this is, or the name of the album it's from?

Thank You in advance. And thanks to Simone for showing the song to Me.

Update:

k i do tht k kthxbai

Update 2:

Thanks Leech, Paramore, Cap.

I think the 70's folkie influence is 100% there too.

    way to get back on the question-askin' train again!! all ABOARD!

    1. Makes me wish I could get psychedelic again

    2. Reminds me of the Mammas and the Papas

    3. Reminds me of what I'm coining "psych-folk"...but I'm afraid I'm of no help at all here

    Source(s): edit: maybe a hint of "Traffic"? dunno.

    Hello Darth :)

    Fleet Foxes are one of those bands that I just couldn't get into {and you know I love my Folk-Rock!}. I like the sound of that particular song, but the vocals and music of the rest put me off - most of them sound the same.

    Anyway, to answer your questions :~

    1) It's catchy, often played on the radio here, and it may be starting to appeal more...

    2) I can hear elements of the following in there :

    Fairport Convention

    CSN

    The Mamas and The Papas

    1970 - 1974 era Fleetwood Mac {Bob Welch / Danny Kirwan / Christine McVie}

    Mellow Candle

    another band that I just can't recall the name of...

    3) Well, Based on that song, I'd call it Folk-Rock, but on Wiki they are classed as that and 'indie pop' {???}

    The song comes from the 2008 EP "Sun Giant"

    Karl, definitely a 70s influence. They seem like a cool band. I just picked up their album.

    Anyway, good song. Not their best, but a good one.

    1. Yes

    2. Sort of, although they remind me a lot of My Morning Jacket, who's a current act.

    3. Well, you got the album name already, but I'd say Alt/Folk Rock? I don't know, classifying bands never works out for me.

    fleet foxes are great, i think they are hitting the pulse of the new but old style of rock - baroque or chamber rock. They have a folk feel too, being influenced by Dylan and Neil Young. Sun Giant is the EP It's kind of a throw back to late 60's pop.
