Country Music is songs that are sung from the heart.

They will always tell a story and are sung with emotion.

"An American style of popular music, developed from the folk music of the rural southern USA and first known as Hillbilly music. Until the 1920s it was performed largely at home, in church or at local functions, on fiddles, banjos and guitars. Later it developed towards a commercial industry, with local radio and gramophone cultivation of such artists as Fiddlin′ John Carson, Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family. After World War II, Nashville became the centre of country music, and exponents like Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams became internationally known. The style broadened, with a fusion of south-western and south-eastern elements, to encompass other types of popular music in the 1960s and 1970s and became less regionally based. More recent performers include Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. The subject matter for country songs has continued to be mother and home, the rambling man, prison, hard work, love and religion."

I like to under stand the lyrics and the song. Most if not all country songs tell some type of story that most can relate to. If not it pulls at your heart to remember good times or bad. Other types of music don't give you the same feeling, as a country song does, lived in and comfortable.

    great question!

I personally feel that country music is music that comes from the heart. It is about life experiences and it tells a story of what that person has been through.

Everything that you mentioned and more. I like the newer country artists, probably starting back with Garth Brooks, Shania, etc.

I like to be able to understand the lyrics and can relate to some of them.

I like a good country song that you can dance to as well.

The worst music ever conceived by man kind, filled with yokel idiots bemoaning their lives or flaunting their wealth over you. Cease and desist listening to this garbage

Songs that describe life, pretty much. Love and living and family and being okay with who you are. Country singers are true, and down to earth. but they dont have to be. Each one had their own style, too. Keith Urban sings about love and happiness. Carrie underwood sings about how much she hates men (really, listen to a lot of her songs! :P)

Sugarland sings about being laidback and enjoying life, and Rascal flatts sing about almost everything in between(which is why i love them so much!) Really, its about life, not glamour or being famous or being a gangster. That is why i love it.

My standard answer to this question is a quote by late, great songwriter Harlan Howard, because it says it so simply:

"Country music is three chords and the truth."

It's hard to describe, you just know what you like & you know it when you hear it. The words are understandable & have meaning. They are "nice" even if it is about something bad it is still pleasant to listen to .
