Recipes to make in a college dorm?

I like to eat healthy, and I like a variety of foods. I will be starting college in September and even though I am not allowed to, I will be bringing a griddle that can be plugged in--in order to cook fried eggs, omelets, chicken, vegetable stir fry, etc. I will also have a microwave and a fridge. Are there any recipes that are easy, affordable, and somewhat healthy to make with a microwave and/or griddle? Thanks.

    tortillas are very versitle

    chicken and cheese tortillia

1/2c shredded cheese your choice of flavor

1/4 cup diced cooked chicken canned works well

    1 tbsp chopped sweet peppers

    2 tortillias

mix the peppers cheese and chicken together then sandwich the mix between the tortillas place on the griddle this also works in the microwave

canned chicken isn't to expensive and you can always place it in the refergatior what is left

On a griddle you can cook lots of things

    -grilled cheese with tomatoes

Make a grilled cheese just as you would but add tomatoes ontop of the cheese

    -philly cheese steaks

    -hameburgers

Ranch Burgers are a great adaption Make enough meat for yourself or who ever else and for every hambdurger add 2 tsp dried ranch and 1 tbsp chopped green sweet peppers and 1 tsp chopped onion

    -peanut butter pita

Get whole wheat pitas and cut them in half then fill with 2 tbsp peanut butter. You can easily add things to this recipe like marshmello fluff of jelly jam or marmleade you could also add apple slices bannah slices or apple chips or celary.

    -layered snacks/desserts

layer jello whip cream gramh crackers vanilla wafers pudding and fruit. Any combination is great. like peach crumble layer peaches vanilla pudding and crushed gram crackers of strawberry shortcake layer vanilla pudding whip cream crushed vanilla wafers and strawberrys or for something chocolatly layer chocolate pudding crushed chocolate chip cookies and whip cream

    for healthier nachos

    1/2c shredded chedder cheese

1/4 tsp hot sauce(if you go to taco bell just take 1 or 2 of their hot auce packets)

1 hot pepper of your choice chopped

2-3 handfuls of wheat tortilla chips

mix together the first all the ingrediants then melt in the microwave (chips and all)

    vegtable omlet

2 eggs or 3 egg whites

    1 tbsp chopped sweet pepper

    1 tbsp chopped onion

    1 tbsp chopped celery

    1/4 tsp hot sauce

mix together and make an omlet

another great appliance you might consider is a gt express 101 they can be purchased at kohls or other depatment stores for about 23$-30$

This recipe is from A Man, A Can, A Plan. They have another book called A Man, A Can, and a Microwave. It's a guy cookbook, but the recipes are really easy and some are really girl friendly cuisine.

    Maizin Potatoes

Wash potatoes and prick with a fork a few times. Throw in the microwave and cook on high for about 8 minutes. Cut each in half and scoop out the insides. Combine with 1/4 low fat ricotta cheese, 1 tablespoon green onion, 1/2 teaspoon heb seasoning, and 2 cans (7 oz each) whole kernel corn. Refill potatoes skins and microwave on high for 90 seconds.

What about a toaster oven? Since you're bringing a griddle and you're not allowed to have that either why not? It's a mini oven! Yum cookies! With a fridge, microwave, griddle and toaster oven you'll be set! Just don't start a fire, everyone in the dorm will hate you for getting them out of bed at 3 am :) A small fire extinguisher might be a good idea too. Also a mini crock pot might be a good idea if you like stews and soups!

Chili is super easy to make and you could probably do it in a microwave. I usually use red beans, black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, chili powder, and ground meat. I'm not sure if you could cook the meat on your griddle, but you could use sausage or chicken or something instead. All of the veggies are canned, which makes things easy. Put them all in a bowl and microwave, stirring frequently. The fun part is that you can add as much of each as you want so that it tastes great.

You could also buy those bags of microwave-able frozen veggies. I've seen things like corn on the cob and all types of mixed veggies that you can buy and microwave. Mix them with some ramen noodles, rice, or some kind of sauce and you'll still have a pretty healthy meal. Or add veggies to some of the meals other people listed, like mac and cheese. It seems weird but can turn out to be delicious! There is a huge variety in what you can make since there are so many types of veggies and so many things to add to them!

    Wafflewich

You mix together peanut butter and marshmellows and stick it in the microwave and mix some more.

Toast two waffles and then put the mixture in between them making a sandwich.

    Then drizzle with honey.
