The snake that has been said to have even deadlier venom than a cobra's is the Inland Taipan, so they have the deadliest venom of any other snake. These are extremely dangerous snakes, but they are not very aggressive. This is why the deadliest snake in the world is the Western Brown Snake. These snakes are highly venomous and extremely aggressive, killing many people every year.

Edit- Taipans are in the Elapidae family, which is actually the same family that cobras belong to. So even though cobras are not the most poisonous snakes, they have many similarities to Taipans. Western Brown Snakes are in the Elapidae family as well.

the first two answers where stupid.
luvexotics was pretty good with the answer but a few things where wrong the ld50 is tested on mice not rats and the inland taipan is the top snake when it comes to the ld50. the russles viper is not close to the taipan if i remember right the russles viper is not even in the top 10.
the brown snakes are very dangerous but it depends on the snake too some are calm and some are not. black mambas are one of the most dangerous snakes to keep and golds tree cobras would also be up there most cay golds trees are like mambas on crack.
the snake that kill more people then any other snake is the saw scale viper but they are not very high on the ld50. they are just found in areas where people dont wear shoes. and hospitals are far away
ohio reptile you can disagree but i will go with what brain fry says is the most venomous snake and he said its the inland taipan ( brian fry is one of the worlds leading venom researchers) his website is venomdoc.com.
just dont get bit by a venomous snake then you wont have to worry about it.

I am going to have to disagree and say that the hooked-nose seakrait is the deadliest among the venomous snakes. I know that it does not hold much venom but I think it is the most powerful. I am a huge fan of the black and green mombas so to put my favorite snake down to 2nd or 3rd...I truely think your answer is the hooked-nose seakrait.

When scientist rate venom they use. LD50 tests which are performed on rats so it doesn't necessarily mean the venom would react the same way to people, but this is how we currently rate and test venom toxicity. According to these test it is a draw between the Island taipan and the russells viper.
