How much food should I give my 8 month old puppy?

I was just wondering if i should go by the chart on the back of the bag of dog food on how much i should be putting in my dog's food bowl a day. I do give her half a cup more than what it says but someone told me that I might be over feeding her but she isn't getting any bigger she's staying the same size and not getting any fatter. Just curious.

Weigh your puppy each week and check the manufacturer's recommendations on the bag for the amount to feed based on his new weight. More active pups may burn more calories and require more food. The opposite is true for less active pups. Once your dog is over 6 months of age, his adult feeding pattern can be established. Some dogs do well on one feeding a day but two feedings a day is usually recommended.

depends on the size of dog and what quality the food is.

You can usually follow what the bag says... if she's getting skinnier, up the amount... if she gets fatter, feed less.

I always find the guidelines on the back to be a little overfeeding rather than under.

Certainly don't give any more than the guidelines, as you never want a puppy to put on too much as it is not good for their joints.

My vet said that the guidelines on the food bag are usually very accurate. The vet usually has a measuring cup they can give you.

as long as your puppy is very fit and healthy you can feed it about 3 cups of dog food/buiscuits, depending on what type of dog you have.

    hope this helped
