hp laptop returns to the login screen?
I have a 18 month old HP Pavillion laptop. It's always worked fine. Then I started it up and found that after logging in, I got to see the windows desktop for a second. Then it went back to the login screen. The login was correct, the system kept bouncing me back to the login screen. HELP!

The system is chewing on something, have you installed new software or updated something ? if so undo whatever you have done, try starting in SAFE MODE and select LAST GOOD KNOWN SPECIFICATIONS do a system restore if nothing works go back a few days
To get into Safe Mode press the F8 key several times just after starting (boot).

Honestly, you should probably try going to http://www.hp-forums.com/ and ask the professionals. It is a free service and you can also interact with many other HP users to ask them for their opinions. They normally respond very quickly.
