So...any thoughts on Michael Jackson's death?

I never really listened to his music, and I don't know much about him, but it was kind of a huge shock when I found out he died today. I haven't seen any other questions about him yet today, so if you have anything you want to say, say it here.

Update:

Ok, so I have seen a few other questions about it now. But I thought there would be more.

Update 2:

Yes, Nicole, obviously I wasn't.

Update 3:

And I'm not a man...

Update 4:

Those of you who contributed respectful/thoughtful answers, thanks. To everyone else who thinks I'm just being like all the other people a few hours ago: I'm just wondering what other people think! Sorry that I'm curious about pop culture, which I don't know much about.

Michael Jackson was the BomB!! as my kids used to say. They are all in their 40s and can't believe Jack bought it this way. Mike was like a part of the family. I must admit, I liked his music and loved to see him dance. When he played RFK in DC, I lived on Capitol Hill and you could hear concert from our yard. The neighbors all came out and we listened and danced.

I'm sorry that his life changed so drastically during his latter years. The photo of him on the respirator never should have been published. We are so sick today. I hope his children don't see that. I also hope that his children will be raised by someone who will care for them and allow them to grow up normally - hopefully not by Michael's parents.

I enjoyed Elvis and I enjoyed Michael!!! May he finally have some peace from the darkness that enveloped him for so many years.

I just don't get why people are shocked at his death. He was not in good health.

Check back a few pages.............as far back as 5 hours ago, there were tons of questions/comments/rants/insults/jokes about this scene.

Jackson was just a pop singer. Does anybody think that because he was a celebrity that he was immune to death/sickness?

I think many people will recall with horrific detail the fact that ultimately, jackson was a pedophile and a pervert. To me that overshadows anything artistic he ever did.

Oh, you should've been here a couple of hours ago. There were A TON.

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of MJ, and this was really shocking and devastating for me. I'm still in shock. He's only the second celebrity death I've ever cried for (the last was 8 years ago-Aaliyah.) I hope his family gets respect and privacy they need and hope he finds peace that always seemed to evade him in life.

i took a pop music course in college and there was a whole class spent on madonna and mj. at the beginning the ta asked the class who considers themselves to be a fan of madonna's music. knows and can sing her songs. about 5 out of 20 people raised their hands. he asked the same question about mj, more than half the class raised their hands. the class was supposed to be split equally between the two iconic artists but we ended up spending 75% of the class on mj. there's just something about him. and notice, unlike madonna he never really did a whole lot of reinvention. madonna is famous for her longevity and reinvention over the years. i feel like michael jackson exploded and just never stopped exploding. like the beatles, something about his music is just permanently current. its weird that the pundits and talking heads on fox and cnn seem shocked that mj sold out 50 concerts in london with no trouble. lol, have they heard of michael jackson before? its michael jackson. he did more for pop, dance and performance than i could even fathom.

He died, it sucks. Some people care some people don't. I didn't wish death upon him but it didn't make me depressed because he was no one of great importance to me. None the less, Rip Micheal Jackson along with CLIFF BURTON =))), 2pac, Jimi Hendrix, Rhandy Rhoadss =((

Really weird, at first I thought it was a joke and then a few minutes later AP or Reuters(or someone else) followed up on the erumer, saying it was a coma at first

When my son told me I didn't believe it. I had to look it up myself. I am really shocked, it was unexpected. I just heard about Farrah Fosett too. (Didn't know how to spell her name) I am a huge Michael Jackson fan. His Family is in my prayers.
