Problems with a maid who left me to die--?

I am currently under treatment for a malarial type infection and have been at my parents house for weeks recovering. A few days after starting a new antibiotic, my body went into shock from something called 'die off' effect. Die off is basically where the bodies of bacteria are killed off so quickly that they block your filtering systems, allowing poisonous back up to occur.

After a few hours of intense nausea, I started walking towards my dad's office to tell him something was wrong. On the way, I passed out on the floor. When I awoke, I couldn't move or speak. I remember feeling internally conscious, and praying in my head for someone to find me.

The maid was there that day so I knew she would have to walk into the kitchen and find me eventually. Lying there in a puddle of drool, passing in and out of consciousness, I listened and waited for someone to find me. Finally, about an hour after I had initially passed out, the maid walked into the kitchen. In my head I was screaming for help, but not only did she walk by, but she stepped over me and continued with her cleaning.

Lying there on the floor, panting, half conscious and unable to move, I tried desperately to ask for help, but no sound would come out. She was in the kitchen with me for more than half an hour before she moved on to the rest of the house.

About an hour later, my dad came into the kitchen to get some water and found me unconscious and unable to move. He immediately recognized something was wrong and picked me up and rushed me to the hospital. When I woke up, I was in the car on the way there.

Eventually the shock passed as I received an overload of fluids at the hospital to flush out my kidneys. But I will never forget the let down when that maid stepped over me and left me helpless on the floor. The maids came again today and I stayed in my room until they left, unable to face the woman who ignored me in my time of severe medical need.

My question is, how should I deal with this maid in the future? Should I report her to her company? Should I fire her outright? Should I continue allowing her to work here knowing what she did to me? Should I just assume that alerting someone to my unconscious state was beyond her duties as a maid or human being? How can I face her knowing what she did?

I realize this is a sticky situation, but any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really not sure of how to handle things. I figure some outside advice would be helpful as I know I am too emotionally invested in this to make objective decisions. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

This was definitely unacceptable behavior as a human being on the part of the maid. She definitely should have done something, anything really. You are well within your rights to actually file legal recourse against this woman for a failure to stop and render aid charge. I definitely would not allow this woman to keep working for me, and this outrages me that she did that to you. You are perfectly justified in firing her, for your own safety. I mean, what if it happens again and she's the only one around? You deserve better from an employee, and I can appreciate your forgiveness to the point of trying to be fair to her, but you really have to consider your health above all else in this case. If this were say, just an emotional problem you had, that might be understood, but your life was in danger and she failed to help you even in the least bit. I would advise you to alert your Dad as to what happened, at least so someone else you know knows what went on. I hope and pray for your safety from now on and I hope you find a better employee than this woman. God bless and be safe.

Well, the last time you said your mother liked the maid, and no one liked you. So I don't think you have the power to fire her. Perhaps she poisoned you, or maybe your mother did after you called her a lazy cow. Either way, it might be a good idea for you to move to another place, that house doesn't sound particularly healthy for a Princess like you.

Folks, I'm not rude, this is a troll. She's posted before and all the stupid, dizzy dopes fall for her stories each time. Are YOU a dizzy dope??

If I were you...I would tell my dad... and let him deal with it... but any decent human being would get help for you.. unless she is blind... anyone can see you needed medical attention or some sort of help..

she should not even be working there... but if you care as to whether she gets a job in the future... just ask ur dad to dismiss her... but do not give her a bad referal.. so she can find work elsewhere..

but u or ur dad has to kindly tell her that you r letting her go... coz she did not take the initiative to render help...

imagine what else can happen... if she sticks around..

no, defianatly dont just let this pass. what that maid did is disgusting, and even if she didnt have a legal duty of care you think morally she would realise that if someone is lying on the floor unable to move, they need help. if i were you i would alert the company to this fact and fire her ***.

She obviously thought helping you up and calling your dad was beyond the range of her duties, This is strange and to be honest quite scary. You should definitely report her and then fire here after explaining exactly why.

  • My blood is boiling right now! Did you tell you father? If you were my child and I found this out I would have the maid's job. That makes me so angry.

Erm...what's sticky about this situation? Why haven;t your parents reported her to the police? That is a crime that she commited.
