How do I wire a zone valve?
I'd like to add a third zone to my Oil/hot water furnace, but I'm not sure how to wire it. I have 1 taco zone for the finished basement already. Also, do I need 2 of those things you use when wiring up a door bell (not sure what they are called)?

The need for a transformer would depend on what kind of voltage your solenoid needs. If it’s 120 then no ….if it’s 24 volt then yes {voltage will be stamped on plate}. As for needing two …..I can’t answer that unless I know how you are hooking up your system…… but normally ….yes

The valve has a rubber ball that is moved to cover or uncover the outlet ports of the valve. The ball is moved by an electric motor depending on the command from the programmer and thermostats, the motor will stop with port A only open, ports A&B open or port B only open.
