On line sales company high-jacked my e-mail address book and sent out message in MY name!!?

There is nothing you can do other than change your email password. Send a note everyone explaining it but since the company already already has the list you are stuck.

The New York Times had an article about this. You would receive an email with the name of a friend, saying "Your friend has some photos he would like you to see". Click here and enter a password. When you did, you got a blank screen. But they were already in your address book sending out the emails with your name "YOur friend (you) has some photos ......"

So far there have been no viruses or long-lasting problems from this mischief.

Sounds like you picked up a virus.

Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.'

Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.

I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also. After you finish this, then change your password, using a good strong one.
