Hello, greasy and spicy foods actually have very little to do with it. Your stomach can take those quite well. Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. https://tr.im/CureYourAcidReflux
The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.
You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here:
https://tr.im/CureYourAcidReflux
* Carbo Veg 200 (liquid): take 6 drops of Carbo Veg 200 in half cup of water after meals twice a day
* Natrum Phos 6x (tablets): take 4 tablets of Natrum Phos 6x after meals twice a day (for 2 months only)
Drop Natrum Phos 6X after 2 months and continue with Carbo Veg 200.
Note: Keep 30 minutes time difference between medicines and do not take anything after 30 minutes of taking medicines

I too have acid reflux you can't eat:
spicy foods
greasy or oily foods
foods with alot of salt
nothing with citric acid(orange juice etc)
no coffee(if you drink coffee)
do not eat as many dairy products(cheese, milk, cream cheese, chocolate etc)
pasta & macaroni
tomatos & tomato products such as spaghetti sauce
carbonated foods
fatty foods(fast foods etc)
You CAN however eat:
applesauce
crackers(i perfer ritz)
baked foods instead of fried
low fat yogurt
fruits(no oranges because they have citric acid)
vegtables(broccoli cabbage etc)
These are a few of things i could & couldnt eat when i was diagnosed I hope i helped :)
P.S.You might want to start looking at labels avoiding citric acid dairy etc. until your doctor tells you otherwise

Do not eat any food with a lot of sugar in it or any type of spicy foods.
Eat apples at least 2 slices a day until heartburn calms down

List One. Anything. But only two to three hours BEFORE bed.
List Two. No fat, tomatoes, alcohol, citrus right before bed.
