Which straightening iron?
Oh my goodness they range in price from like $20 to $200 how do I know which one to buy? The packaging seems like they all have similar features in terms of heating, ceramic, tourmaline etc. Is there a good cheap one? How about the wet to dry ones? Help!

Pick a CERAMIC straightener. I wouldnt reccommend wet to dry only because I havent used them, but ppl say it works well. the chi works great because it is ceramic. Ceramic works with your hair's natural oils so you do not damage your hair or burn it as easily. Dont forget the chi heat protectant either.

I have a Chi and i love it! I have had a wet to dry one and i used it on my hair when it was wet one time because it took to long! and im sure it causes some major damage. I switched to a Chi because my other cheap straightners worked but by the end of the day my hair would be curly again. i have bad curls by my ears. With my Chi though its fine. I know its a lot of money but in the long run you save because 1. theres a 90 day warrenty if you dont like it 2. if lasts a long time and doesnt mess up like the cheap ones do so you wouldnt have to keep buyign new ones. which would evenutally add up to the amount of money a Chi would costs. Would you rather have a couplpe bad ones for cheap or an EXCELLENT one that will last forever for a little bit more money!!

I bought one at Walmart for 25 dollars, it has ceramic slides (that dont come off) and it works wonders!! I would never spend 200 dollars on something unless I have previously used it and it works GREATER than a 25 dollar product (because you don't know how its going to work) I honestly have never used the wet to dry ones, I usually wash my hair the night before, then use mine in the morning, or unless I am in a rush, use a hair dryer.
I couldnt find a picture of it on Walmarts web-site however the name of the product I use is, Andis Multi-Heat Ceramic. Like I said it's at Walmart

I have been straightening my hair for years! It completely depends on the type of hair that you have!
My hair is extremely curly and frizzy. For hair straighteners it is definitely true that the more expensive they are, the better they are. It is best to get one through a salon you trust as you can often get the top of line brands for cost.
If your hair isn't too frizzy or curly a 30 dollar straightener will do just fine! It may not be as healthy for you hair so make sure you use a sealant or some sort of straightening product when you get out of the shower. The important thing for straightening with the cheaper ones is basically how hot they get. They may not last long but they'll do the trick!

The $20 straightener usually works, but then breaks in the future. A $50 straightener usually works and just straightens your hair when it is dry. The $200 one usually can work on wet or dry hair and can get really hot really fast!
Basically, it depends on what kind you want.

I hav the CHI Turbo Digital Flat Iron 1.5", which is priced around $85. I was able to buy it from someone for $40. It is wonderful. I had one that I purchase from Wal-Mart. The CHI is much quicker, as it allows me to flat iron more hair at one time. I only pull the hair through one time---does not require multiple ironings! It is light weight and the velvet covering protects your hand from the heat!

I will tell you to definitely get the CHI. It's a little expensive but it is really worth it. Never buy the cheap $20 ones, they hardly work and take about 20 minutes to reach full temperature it seems like.
Avoid Conair and get the CHI.

If you can afford them, ghds are really good because they heat up fast and work quickly so there is minimal contact with your hair and the irons. I have them and even on my afro hair, they work well.
If price is an issue consider Kodo straighteners and for wet to dry, T3 are very good but a litle expensive.
Good luck. ;)

This is the one I use. It cost like $20, I use it daily. It lasts for years, and works excellent. DONT EVER GET THEWET TO DRY ONES. They are expensive and do not work. Even when the hair is completly dry. I use this revlon one here is the site w/ some reviews.
