Going to NYC for 5 days, the forecast is scattered t-storms for the entire week. How will this affect my trip?

Update:

I plan on going up the empire state building and stuff like that, will cloudy skies affect looking out of the top at all? I've never really been to big cities :P

Update 2:

also, does scattered/isolated thunder storms necessarily mean it will be cloudy the whole day or will there be clear skies at points?

The weather will have an impact on how you allocate your time. The Empire State is not worth the time or effort unless it is a clear day. And the best part of NYC is walking, IMHO, which isn't as much fun in the rain. Please don't take one of those stupid tour buses. Get out on the sidewalks and pound the pavement. Walk to Brooklyn, walk to Chinatown, walk on the HighLine (new elevated park on 10th Ave.). You see so much more on foot.

But you should set aside a few activities for rainy days, such as Museums. New Musuem,

Enjoy -- it's the greatest place on earth!

NYC has more to do indoors than most other cities, including Broadway, the museums, art galleries, shopping, concerts, Off Broadway, comedy, great restaurants, etc.

The weather's been like this for two weeks, and it doesn't rain all day. You probably won't want to plan a day at the beach or the golf course, but the rest of NYC will still be waiting for you. Bring a folding umbrella and a poncho, and have fun.

    Bring. Rainboots. Bring. An umbrella.

I cannot stress this enough. I have been in NYC in the rain without these; miserable. It's just an all-around good choice.

It will be some clouds and maybe a shower in the day for all the week. Good luck!
