My pug has breathing attacks. I read it is the soft pallet falling in, after a short time she breathes fine?
Is there anything I can do to Help her during these breathing attacks?
Is there any long term damage? Can she breathe at all during these attacks?

My chihuahua has done the same thing his entire life, I know exactly what you are talking about. They used to scare me to death! As for reverse sneezing, you can usually tell if that is it if your dog only does it when she is excited. If it seems to have no one cause and just happens randomly, it is probably the soft pallet. it is not "falling in" so much, in smaller breeds like chihuahuas, pugs, yorkies, etc., the pallet is usually too long and can give them a tickling sensation that makes them feel like they have something in their throats. Though it sounds like they are choking to death, it isn't as bad as it seems, they can still breathe, it is just their way of clearing their throats. I don't know if this will help your baby or not, but when Pedro has his fits, I rub his throat to kind of help him relax it. It may not even be doing much in the way of the attack but it seems to comfort him, if anything. If you get their attention focused elsewhere they soon forget about that feeling in their throat, and stop trying to cough out something that isn't there. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, the pug breed had been absolutely corrupted. Somewhere along the line, smashed in faces became desirable (the breed did NOT look like that 150 years ago). Her soft palate is almost certainly the problem. She will need surgery or she may start to "black out" for few seconds when she can't bbreath right. Some pug breeders defend this as "normal".

It may be reverse sneezing or tracheal collapse. Pugs are notorious for breathing problems because of how their face is structure and the have a short muzzle which makes it worse.
I would have the vet diagnose this condition. Video tape one of her episodes and take the video footage with you to the vet so that the vet can see what she is doing because they usually don't have these attacks at the vet.

maximum brachial cephalic (squished noses) canines tend to snore, breath heavy, wheeze, opposite sneeze, and make lots of snorty gross sounds. My Bostons the two do it, and my girlfriends' dad and mom' pug does besides. Have a vet verify his nares although to make confident they're extensive adequate. If no longer, he will desire surgical operation to open them up. in many circumstances although, it is common for them to be loud lil' monsters.

it could be reversed sneezing. But to be sure its nothing serious you should take it to a vet. or mabey its to hot outside or inside for the pug.

comfort her and ask a vet. i don't know if you are talking about reversed sneezes, because those are normal for pugs

Are you sure she is not reverse sneezing? They can sound like breathing attacks.
Talk to your vet.
