What kind of lizard do I have?
My mom’s boss gave us a lizard and I was wondering what kind of lizard it is so I can do some research on it. Any help is really appreciated. This is a link to kinda give you an Idea of how he looks:
It looks like a Chuckwalla , but not sure..what can I look for to be sure?

It's a Uromastyx, probably Uromastyx maliensis (Mali Uromastyx, the most popular species in the pet trade). They are a desert lizard from Africa.
They can have similar colors to a chuckwalla and both have pudgy bodies but the tail and head have a very different shape.
Lots of info here: http://www.kingsnake.com/uromastyx/

Not the best picture, but I suggest doing an image search on chuckwallas to see if it matches up... at least that's what it reminds me of...
(wrong body shape and size to be any type of monitor)... It also looks like it's tail has an old injury, and maybe the back feet are messed up? (could just be an image quality issue) But yeah, I'd compare it to pics of chuckwallas... or better yet, have your mom ask her boss what it is... gets on my nerves when people give animals as pets and can't even make sure that the person getting it knows what they're getting.
Edit: Ha! You added the chuckwalla comment while I was posting my answer. If there's a decent reptile-centered pet store in your area you could probably take it in for an I.D. or contact your local herpetological society and I'm sure they've got a member who knows their chuckwallas...
