HELP ME! something is wrong with my indian ringneck?
Something is wrong with my indian ringneck. So today I let it out of its cage like i do everyday and I play with it and socialize with it but, I went to go inside to get some fruits for my indian ringneck and when i went outside again I notcied that my indian ringneck was only standing on his left leg and holding up his right lef, and usually he doesnt do that. So i kind of got curious and worried. Then i saw him walking around and he was limping but he was walking also so im thinking he sprained it. But he is able to walk on it and stuff but I put him back in hs cage to rest. And whenever he is on the perch he lifts his right leg up but keeps his left leg down so what does this mean?sprain ankle? But he doesnt sho any aggressivness that it hurts and he still grabbs his toys with his right foot (sprained? foot) what should i do?!?!?!

Birds do that all the time, its how they rest their legs after standing on them all day, but if you are sure he is limping, and it seems bad, then take him to a vet. Preferably find an avian vet in your area because sometimes regular vets don't know what to do.

If he is walking on it he probably will be o.k. He probably has just hit it on something, maybe he pulled a nail, or caught a toe in something. If he is moving it though then he is probably o.k. I have a quaker that when my dad started the lawn mower the other day, she fell off of the top of her stand onto the bottom tray....landing on her leg. She limped for a couple days and was fine after that.
Almost all of my birds, pets and breeders, rest or sleep with one leg up and tucked under their bodies....that is how they sleep.
The person who said ringnecks walk funny is totally right.....mine all walk like they are high-stepping. But if yours is limping he probably has hurt it somehow, but as long as it's not broken or bleeding, it will go away in time.
