In Hinduism how is the Karma transferred to next birth ?

The soul being an observer only, is not a part of the karma. It does not go through birth - rebirth cycle. Only the physical entity goes through the birth - rebirth cycle till it attains moksha. Again as soul does not carry the signatures of karma to the next birth, what might be the entity which carries the karma to next birth ?

Update:

Hi Pabs,

Can you explain your point ?

Update 2:

Let me put it this way :

If soul is the "I" which is again an extension of Supreme in the body as a mere observer then soul cannot be a part of the actions / decisions taken by the body-mind complex. If it was true then Supreme is the owner of all actions / decision and not this body-mind complex. Then the sins and good deeds should also belong to Him. That was he will be the greatest sinner if we combine all sins. But we know this is not true. Again there is no birth-rebirth of soul as it does not die. Birth-rebirth is for physical entity which bears characteristics.

If we accept the above as true then which is that entity which goes through this birth-rebirth cycle? Is it the mind which is also called subtle body and which lies in between physical and metaphysical ? A neutral mind, like a neutral atom, is a state of moksha. A mind with residual characteristics is like an ion with charge, which depending on the intensity of charge gets attached to another ion.

Food for thought!

Update 3:

Parasu : I have not come across 2 souls in a single body. have not come across in Gita explaination from ISCKON, Ramakrishna Mission and Dayanand Saraswati mission. I will have to look for this new information again

Mukunda : Some contardictions have crept in your theory.

It is the Ego which falsely thinks it is attched to the mind and body. It is the system of Ego-mind which carries the karma onto next birth

When this little ego dissolves into soul, there is no re-birth

Soul is the doer. Its mentioned in Bhagavad Gita –

The living entity in material nature thus follows the ways of life, enjoying the three modes of nature. This is due to his association with that material nature. Thus he meets with good and evil among various species.(13.22).

Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer, who is the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and permitter, and who is known as the Supersoul.(13.23).

Hence in this body along with Atma (we the soul) there is another Paramatama (Supreme God).

Both the Mudaka Upanisad (3.1.2) and Svetäsvatara Upanisad (4.7) confirm this:

"Although the two birds are in the same tree, the eating bird is fully engrossed with anxiety and moroseness as the enjoyer of the fruits of the tree. But if in some way or other he turns his face to his friend who is the Lord and knows His glories—at once the suffering bird becomes free from all anxieties."

So Soul being observer is not accepted. Rather the Super-soul is the observer, where as we the soul is actually acting. And the soul has the choice that we may do good or evil. Super- soul or Parmatama who is also within us is the main witness to our deeds and to him we are answerable.

So karma is like pollution of the consciousness and that effects the subtle body made of Mind, intelligence and Ego. At death, the material body is destroyed but the subtle body goes and carries soul to another body according to jurisdiction of the Supersoul or God. This is explained in details in Bhagavad Gita.

Subtle body including mind is also material and Moksha is becoming free from the subtle body also. Moksha is getting Spiritual body with is – sat, chid, and ananda. Purification of Mind is a must for Moksha, and the best way is to follow the instruction of God as mentioned in Bhagavad Gita.

A neutral mind doing nothing is almost impossible. Hence Krishna recommends, rather engage restless mind in Spiritual activities.

Pious activity is Karma, Sinful activity is Vikarma and Spritual activity is Akarma - (Liberating activity)

Namaste again, could you please elaborate as to which all parts are contradicting?you can mail me at mukunda20@yahoo.co.in or mukunda20@gmail.com for continuing this discussion in case this question gets closed for answering

    mukunda

Namaste, firstly its important to know what components every species consist of.

    1: Body(physical matter) :lowest

2: 5 Indriyas(senses, which gives meaning to body)

3: Mind ( which recieves signals from senses and transmits back signals to the same)

4: Intellect(which gives meaning of mind) and

5: Atma(soul which is the manifestation of the Paramatma or super soul) :highest.

If we take one life(Janma) into consideration, the starting of that life is the Atma being placed into a physical body with its mind, intellect and senses(some of the main aspects) included in the body. Throughout that life, the mind converses to the body to perform actions via the 5 senses, all this happening by the intellect forming ideas in the mind of how the physical body performs action through senses. During the entire life(Janma) period, the Atma which is observing all its lower levels performing the deeds(Karma) indicates whether each Karma about to be performed is right or not(remember this is a one way communication and the Atma gives suggestion after observing). The Karma phala(result of Karma) depends on whether the lower levels(intellect, mind etc) follows the output given by the Atma(soul). The more greedy/materialistic/worldly the lower levels are, the lesser they listen to the suggestions of Soul, thus leading to lack of guilt consciousness upon bad deed(Karma) thus leading to bad Karma phala. After the life finishes(Janma is over), all the levels above the body leave with the Atma(thus rendering the body lifeless). Thus a body can be compared to the clothes we wear.

everyday we change clothes, still we still retain all other aspects of us even though we wear some other clothes. thus even though the Soul changes bodies every Janma(life) still all other aspects of the soul remain(including other levels) thus retaining the count of Karma once the body is left. Here the Soul or Atma collects all other aspects with it and leaves the lowest level(body) back. this is how Karma gets transferred to next birth

    Hope this helps

According to Hinudism, when a human being dies, his/her soul has to spend time in hell and heaven, depending on how much evil and good that person has done in their lifetime.

Depending on that proportion of good and bad, that soul (Atma in Sanskrit) is reborn on this Earth. The more good, the higher the species. So if you accumulate enough good in this lifetime and very little bad, chances are that you will be reborn as a human and given another chance at Moksha - which is to escape from the cycle of birth and death. On the other hand if you do a lot of bad and very little good, you will be reborn as a lower-order species - fish, fungus etc.

If, in a lifetime, you have done 100% good, you will attain escape the cycle of birth and death, attain Moksha and reintegrate with the Supreme Soul (the one God - Parabrhamam). That is what all Hindus believe in and should theoretically strive to achieve.

Our good and bad deeds play important role, if our karma is good then may be in next birth you'll be more rich and vice versa but suffering is not optional here you will suffer for the bad deeds you have done in your previous life and hey people suffer in saade saati cause of the bad deeds of their past acts, you pay for your sins in saade saati and yes soul does carry the signature of karma to the next birth cause its the soul that governs the mind and body we should always be true to ourselves and to our fellow beings to suffer less, and to attain moksha soul needs to be purified and free from any kind of evil-ness, there are so many stories in various purans like shiva puran and vishnu puran which can wash away your confusion.

the entity.......the next birth? In order to pass to the next birth, there has to be judgment as to what level you go to. Which means there is a judge.

The choice you make here ......in this body you now live in ,....determines what is to happen at the judgment. .......by a judge.

I read this quote: , It is born unto man , once to die, and after this ...the judgment

Before I meet this Judge, I truly want to know what He requires, what basis I will be judged on, and since I will be locking in my final answer at my last breath,....since you too will be locking in your final answer,

would it not make sense to get it right?

Either Jesus was the craziest mad lunitic on the earth, or He is the Creator of you and I. Jesus did not speak of Karma, of reincarnating a few times to attain moksha, etc. He came to forgive sin, and make a way straight to what you call Moksha/Nirvana/etc. He did claim to be the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and wants you to be where He is .....to enjoy the Kingdom He has waiting for those who follow Him.....

Jesus claimed to be the Way, the Truth and the Light and Life. and He Is.

There are boatloads of medical data exhibiting that what makes a guy or woman a guy or woman comes from the innovations, which arises out of the innovations. At dying, the innovations dies - it ceases to function. it extremely is what occurs. What extremely extremely occurs. previous those data, some human beings attempt to argue that there is a particular magical element of someone that lives on. of course there's no data in any admire to assist this wishful questioning.

If your soul was an observer and does not take part in your daily decision making or character of yours, then your soul has already attained the moksha you are talking about. Obviously since your are not god realized, and since it is the soul that has to be god realised, your soul is NOT an observer. From wad i know...
