I have a uti and i was wondering if it could be something more serious?

I went to the doctor and i took a urine test and they said that i have a uti. I was prescribed an antibiotic-Bactrin or Bactrim to take 2x daily for 1 week. i am on my fourth day and have not seen any improvement. My sides still hurt whenever i move or yawn, cough, or sneeze and it still hurts to pee. How long does it take for an antibiotic to work? Could it be something other than a uti? Like could it be appendicitis?

Keep taking your medication. If it doesn't work, drink Cranberry juice. If that STILL doesn't work. Talk to your doctor and explain what's going on.

I would finish your antibiotics first unless the symptoms get worse. It may take longer for the meds to kick in for you than other people. It is deffinately possible that you have something on top of having a uti so just keep a close eye on it
