Anyone have comments/experience buying refurbished Nikons?

I am in the market for a D700 and they are $500 less refurbished.

    I like buying refurbished stuff.

New gear just gets sold as is. When something comes back for whatever reason (and it could be as innocent as someone simply not knowing how to use it, so they return it) it actually gets CHECKED, and if necessary it gets fixed.

So in a refurbished product, you can be much surer avoid a lemon - it has been pre-tested for you. The warranty is the same, the price is less. GREAT deal if you ask me.

We've had a D50 refurb for 4 years+ from Cameta with no problems. It came with a Nikon USA warranty and all original (new) packaging and accessories.

I bought my D90 refurb from Adorama. No problems thus far.
