I have a friend that has not had a period for 6 months and she is not pregnant!?
She has seen several specialist and no one can tell her why. However, she has been diagnosed with fibroids on her uterus and often experiences a lot of stomach cramping on her right side on a continuous basis. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone know a possible cause of this? Any useful information or resources are welcome.

I don't think that having fibroids on her uterus would make a difference. If something was on her ovaries that could explain it. Also your friend might have an eating disorder. The same thing happened to my friend. She had an eating disorder which caused her problem. You should talk to her about that possibility.

6 months of no periods maybe indicative that you are in the perimenopause where periods become irregular irregularly- some times skipping months sometimes you may have 2-3 periods in one month. Think that the perimenopause is puberty in reverse- you will be experincing some menstural chaos until the periods stop completely.

Yes they are some answers, but it is important to know her weight. Sometimes if your are over weighted you can experience absence of your periods. Also she could have PCOS (Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome) in which due to many cysts on your ovaries the menstrual cycle become irregular and sometimes with amenorrea (absence of menstrual periods).
Tell her to go to an Ob/Gyn and have her and Pelvic Ultrasound. With that you can be sure what`s going on.

If shes young , or has just gotten her period, this is normal.IF shes really skinny, she needs to gain weight. I know of 20 year old models who haven't had their period fo 2 years, because they're too skinny
