Army Enlisted to Marine Enlisted/Officer?

I know i'll have to start over from scratch rank wise, but my end goal is to become commissioned in the Marine Corps. I'd like to be enlisted before I do that in the Corps as well. What's the quickest way to do this? Currently my PSG, and PL offered to try to get me into the Army's OCS program. I haven't given them a response yet. Would I be able to transfer from an Army Officer to a Corps Officer once my Army contract was completed?

Update:

Well, I have a better chance of going to Airborne and Ranger School as an Army Infantryman than I do as one in the Corps, which is one of my reasons for joining the Army first.

You wouldn't be allowed to transfer as an Officer from the Army to the Marine Corps.

Unless you were in MARSOC or Force Recon, you would not go to airborne school or Ranger School as a Marine Officer.

Even in the Army, unless you are a combat arms officer, your chances of getting Ranger School are slim.

If you want to be an Army officer, then apply for OCS

If you want to go Marines.

Then you have to finish your Army enlistment, then either enlist in the Marines as an E-2 and go to Boot and after your mos training, apply for OCS

Or apply for Marine Corps OCS right off the bat , without going enlisted marines first.

You're Army enlisted and want to enlist in the Marines, then commission in the Marines? Do I have that right? You sound confused about what you want. Sit down for a second and ask yourself why you enlisted in the Army. Ask yourself what has changed. Why are you no longer happy with your decision, and fixated on a different path? Also, are you sure you know what you're asking for? Do you maybe have a romantic/unrealistic view of what the Marine Corps is?

I assume you have your degree already. If you're really serious about a Marine commission, the best thing you can do is just ride out your contract with the Army (getting everything out of it you can) and then apply for Marine OCS. Why would you want to put off the commission by another 4 years of enlisted service? (Believe me, if you survive Marine OCS you will have earned the respect of enlisted Marines even if you were not one yourself beforehand. After all, college graduates can go to Marine OCS and earn their commissions with no previous military experience).

On the other hand, if a commission is more important than WHO is commissioning you, then just accept the Army's offer. They're offering to commission you NOW. Why isn't that good enough? Realize that Army OCS and USMC OCS are like night and day; there is no comparison. The Army side is much, much easier. (Maybe for you, that is precisely the point -- you want the hardest thing possible. But again, if that is the case, why didn't you enlist in the Marines in the first place?)

As has already been stated, if you commission in the Army and then want to switch, it is conceivable that the Marines would accept you, but there are no shortcuts: you would have to resign your Army commission and then go through Marine Corps OCS like every other Marine officer candidate.

I think you need to take a time out, sit back and really think this through. Feel free to email me at icelanderson@yahoo.com.

    Good luck.

Every U.S branch training is a challenge. (Not just Marines) I mean...a person can only do so many push-ups or situps at a time, and run so many miles. And I think the army has 21 mile ruck marches carrying like a 100 lb's of equipment. It's similar to moving heavy furniture, however instead of going to a U Haul - you walk 21 miles with it on your back. So it's not a cake walk. Personally I'm going Air force.
