Michael Jackson vs Elvis Presley?

My opinion i is That Michael Jackson is better because he is amazing and creates his own music and sets standards in the music industry

he makes magnificent music videos and even more magnificent songs and albums he sold the most albums in music history that more then you can say about Elvis Presley And his voice is just way better than Elvis Voice was ever

Elvis on the other hand is a thief he stole song from several black artists and he did not even write is own music

sometimes the simplest questions are the hardest to answer. this one is easy....elvis by miles!!

First of all, Elvis Presley had a really rare animal magnetism. By this I do not mean simply sex appeal. He drew heterosexual men in with that dynamic force about as strongly as women. I don't know how to analyze this magnetism, how to break it down. I don't know that it would do any good. This magnetism may be more a gift from God than the result of any study or work, but it sure comes through. Obviously, watching Elvis just draws you in, even in ridiculous movie roles. Then, there's the prime experience of watching him singing on stage.

It comes right through even just in his voice, however, as evidenced by his actual records. Anyone can make a great song sound good, but Elvis could turn a mediocre, generic song like "Milkcow Blues Boogie" or "I Love You Because" into an unforgettable classic. He breathed life into all kinds of material that would lie there flat for most people. Elvis' famous 1968 television special, "If I Can Dream." he reached out toward something holy and transcendent that Jackson could never touch.

Gospel, in short, is the biggest critical artistic difference between Elvis and Jackson, who didn't have that kind of SOUL. Soul music comes from the church. Elvis was there, Jackson wasn't. Listen to Elvis sing "Peace in the Valley" and weep at the purity and unearthly peace. What's Jackson got to compete with that?

he was the most beautiful star ever, his looks often overwhelmed other famous stars. When the Beatles visited him, they said they just sat there and stared at him.

The dude just showed up at the White House...went in, and met the President without an appointment. He even gave Nixon guns as a present! How many stars today could just walk up to the white house, talk to the guards...secret service, and walk into the oval office! Let alone take guns in there!! Elvis could.

Now, more than 31 years after his death, Elvis remains the foremost pop icon of the 20th and 21st century His image, especially his trademark, is instantly recognizable. He is still the gold standard against which modern notions of fame are measured. Among his many accomplishments, Elvis Presley is only one to ever have two Top 5 albums on the charts simultaneously. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1986), the Country Music Hall of Fame (1998), and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame (2001). In 1993, Presley's image appeared on a United States postage stamp.

    This one isn't even close..........

Hmmm.....all I read are a bunch of comments based on casual fanhood and unfortunately it's based on feelings and not facts. If anyone actually thought about the different times and struggles especially and exceptionally for a black artist, then there is no contest. I also read how someone stated hands down, Elvis...whoa, umm...lol, sure buddy. He stated there's no proof of him being a thief? Ok say what you will. I supoose also feel Christopher Columbus discovered America, too...right? There are a lot of things the mainstream media which is not controlled by people of color, that they do not want the public to really know. As early as the late 1940s through the early '70s, black folk music has been stolen. Even Latinos. Forced to leave town or change their image and names. That's was for the radio...read about Ritchie Valens. Lok at what they did to Little Richard, too. Michael had more struggle and hurdles to be successful and famous. Elvis did not! He definitely stole music and...

I have to go with Elvis! I know both singers well and I have to say Elvis! I use to be a huge Micheal fan until I was 16, that's when I saw Elvis in the aloha from hawaii concert on tv, which was not too long ago! My eyes gotten wide and my mouth drops!! I never did Micheal the same way when I first saw him! I stared at Elvis in an awe because he was so so so dog on sexy! Even I have some non gay guys who tells me that they wanna kiss Elvis! It was something about his sex appeal that everyone is drawn to! Don't know what it is but he was rally fine as hell! Micheal, I think also stole some of Elvis styles in many ways! I know Elvis stole music but a lot if singers from the 50s and 60s stole other people's music! I can name a couple of singers who did, just don't feel like listing them. Elvis also sung from his heart like his voice was rich and deep in the 70s! U can tell he had some struggles in his life when he sings! Elvis was awesome! Still is!

Let me start by saying Elvis is a much better artist. Yes, He may have stolen from the black blues artist, but what people don't realize is that was the music revolution. So it wasn't like it was just him, If white people wouldn't've taken blues music it wouldn't have gotten popular, and then there probably wouldn't be much rock music after that. Also there weren't really music videos back then so he was just as if not more popular and there was barely any media, and becoming well known without any source of media is pretty difficult.

"Elvis emerged at a point in history where our culture was ready to turn itself upside down," says Dr. John Bakke, a professor emeritus of the University of Memphis' Department of Communication, who staged the first scholarly conference on Presley in 1979. "From the Depression on to World War II and then into the Cold War, there was a real drive towards security. Elvis came along at just the time the first identifiable generation of teen-agers were about to substitute a drive for freedom for their parents' drive for security.

"With the change in values came a change in music and you had the impact of what became rock 'n' roll. Elvis stood at the cusp of that generational revolution."

As Nash notes, Presley's was a trailblazing path.

"Where Elvis co-created a musical art form, Michael largely built on one. Where Elvis changed sexual mores in the conservative wake of World War II, Michael only made shocking crotch-grabbing movements

This of Elvis stealing music is pathetic and immature. Music is for all races...case closed !

Don't know much about Elvis, but MJ is probably by favorite musician ever. One thing is for sure, MJ is the most popular musician(also, the most popular celebrity) ever, internationally! I love the way he dances to his music, like its synchronized. He says he is "enslaved to the rhythm". Ask anyone in Asia, Africa, S America. They all know Michael! Elvis is very well known in the west, but wont ever be internationally as popular as MJ.

It doesn't matter who is greater or better. o_O. They are both talented people. I'm sure that a majority of people, including me, were not able to witness Elvis Presley's fame because we were not born yet. Thus, we have no right to judge them. :)

This is not a tournament. There is no one versing (vs) each other. o_O.
